CHICOPEE - Robert P. “Bob” Salois, 83, of Chicopee, embraced Eternal Life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born at home in Chicopee on June 2, 1940, he was the cherished son of the late Euclid and Anne Marie (St. Germain) Salois, and a lifelong resident of Chicopee.
Bob's journey was one of deep faith, and service. A graduate of Saint Jerome High School in Holyoke and Western New England College in Springfield, he dedicated many years as a Food Sales Broker for Acosta in Suffield, CT. His commitment to his Catholic faith was evident through his active involvement in the church community. He served as a dedicated Parish Council member, Lector, and Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at Saint Patrick Church, and later as a Senior Altar Server, Lector, and Men’s Group leader at Sainte Rose de Lima Church. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Bob also volunteered his time at Lorraine’s Kitchen and Pantry, embodying his belief in helping those in need.
Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, Bob found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer, a passionate supporter of New England sports teams, and a devoted fan at his grandchildren’s sporting events. However, his greatest joy came from being with his family and friends, sharing in their lives and creating lasting memories.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Pauline (Matte) Salois, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his three loving children, Marc Salois and his wife, Christine, Gail Ryan and her husband, John, all of Hopkinton, MA, and Greg Salois and his wife, Katie, of Andover, MA. Bob will be deeply missed by his eight cherished grandchildren, Renee, Grant, and Craig Salois, Jack and Patrick Ryan, and Austin, Madeleine, and Benjamin Salois. He was predeceased by his three siblings, Sister Madeleine Salois of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pauline McNee and her husband, John, and Richard Salois and his wife, Selma.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 0120.
