Richard Michael Stibrik, 56, of Hyde Park, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at UPMC St. Margaret.
The son of John M. and Sandra L. (Zak) Stibrik, he was born on August 12, 1967 in Pittsburgh, PA.
From the ages of four to twenty-one years old, Richard attended the School for the Blind in Pittsburgh, PA. His next twenty-six months of schooling took place at the Helen Keller Center in New York.
Richard lived in a group home in Hyde Park, where he assisted with the daily house tasks and skills needed to keep the group home in good order.
He enjoyed keeping active. Some of Richard’s favorite activities were swimming, walking; swinging on porch swings and rocking in a rocking chair.
Richard greatly enjoyed going on drives and car trips. One of his favorite treats was to enjoy a good Italian dinner accompanied with wine coolers. He was also very fond of M& M’s candy.
Richard is survived by his loving family – his parents: John and Sandy Stibrik of Hillsdale, PA; his two brothers: John S. Stibrik and wife Joann of Commodore, PA and Raymond F. Stibrik and wife Amanda of Lucernemines, PA; his nephews and nieces: John A.; Victoria; Michael; Helayna; Andrew; Noah and Joseph Stibrik; his great niece Lucy Stibrik and his great nephew, Renzo Stibrik.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Stephen and Mary (Scariot) Zak and his paternal grandparents: John A. and Pauline (Konkol) Stibrik.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 3:30 p.m. vigil service will take place during the Sunday afternoon visitation. On Monday, February 26, 2024 an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Heilwood, PA with Fr. James Morley as the officiant. Interment will follow at the Rowley Cemetery in Hillsdale, PA.
