Young Vernon Johnson, 73, of Tifton passed away Friday, March 26, 2004, at Tift Health Care. A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Johnson at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where he was laid to rest. The Rev. Jimmy Odum officiated.
Born August 14, 1930, in Fitzgerald, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late I. M. Johnson, Sr. and Ellen Vining Johnson. He was also preceded in death by one brother. Before retiring, he was a furniture upholsterer for Johnson Furniture Company; and he was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Johnson is survived by two brothers, Ike Johnson, Jr. and Carl Johnson, both of Tifton; and one sister, Frances Young of Tifton.
