HOLLIS- Mary A. Bigda, 68, resided in Hollis with her brother Paul and her best friend Mr. Peanut (dog). Mary was lovingly cared for by her nieces Melissa and Loretta and her siblings Paul and Christine. Mary passed away on Tuesday February 20, 2024, with her family by her side at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough due to liver failure.
Mary was born November 7, 1955, in Sanford to Raymond Daney, Sr who passed away in August of 1984 and Rita Pierce Daney who passed away March of 2014.
Mary attended Massabesic High School, class of 1975. She married Walter M. Bigda on February 14, 1976. Mary worked for US Optical Disk, Pratt Whitney, and Walmart in Somersworth, New Hampshire. She was an active member of the Shop-a-holic Group and loved a good discount from Goodwill.
Her hobbies and interests included her family, reading, Bingo, going to the Casino and crocheting. She loved all her cat babies including the ones she fostered.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wally Bigda, son Jason Bigda and brother Raymond Daney Jr.
Mary is survived by her siblings Joyce Godin of Holiday, FL, Roland Daney, Sr. of Alfred, ME, Paul Daney of Hollis, ME, David Daney, Sr and wife Irene of Holiday, FL, and Christine Godin and husband Peter of Sanford, ME, three grandchildren who she adored, Brian, Zack and Kyle, five great grandchildren, Hunter, Holly, Harley, Braylee and Tatum and many nieces and nephews and son Michael Bigda and wife of Tennessee.
Per her wishes there will not be a funeral. A private graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Services in Buxton, Maine
