Obituary

Margaret A. (Gippert) O’Brien, 68, of Whitman, Massachusetts died peacefully Tuesday. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts and daughter to the late Joseph and Mary (Keeley) Gippert. Known to many as Peg or Peggy, she was a graduate of Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School and Boston State College.

Peggy was an educator in every sense of the word with a career spanning four decades across several catholic schools including: Saint Brendan’s School (Dorchester), Saint Kevin’s School (Dorchester), Saint Margaret’s School (Dorchester) and Holy Family School (Rockland). She spent her retirement caring for those she loved. Her most cherished title was “Mams” to her two grandchildren.

Peggy was a loving wife to the late Paul E. O’Brien. She is survived by their son Kevin and his wife Lauren O’Brien of Raynham; sister Mary Beth (Gippert) and her husband Marty Walsh of Dorchester; sister-in-law Karen (O’Brien) and her husband John Donahue of Kingston; grandchildren Madelyn and Jonathan O’Brien; nieces Kelly (Walsh) Rubin, Colleen Walsh and Maura Donahue; and nephew Patrick Walsh. She is also survived by many caring friends whom
she considered family.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, February, 25 2024 from 2-5pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary), Whitman. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 10:30am at Saint Bridget Church, 455 Plymouth Street, Abington. Burial will take place at the Saint James Cemetery, Whitman.
