She lived in Franklin MA for about seventy years before moving to Southwick and was a longtime St. Mary’s Church in Franklin parishioner and later a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake in Southwick. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Silvi; loving and devoted mother to Linda B McQuade of Southwick MA, Mary A Urquhart of Vernon VT and Joseph R Silvi of Dedham MA. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Angelina (Bertone) Marco and she was the sister of the late Agnes (Marco) Davis, the late Francis Marco and is survived by her brother Louis Marco Jr.
Barbara was the Aunt of several nieces and nephews, the proud Nana to five grandchildren and the proud Great Nana to ten great grandchildren.
Barbara, beyond enjoying her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed being with people. She was the salutatorian of her Franklin High School graduating class (1947). She was always considered the smart one in the family. After starting a family, Barbara worked as an administrator at JJ Newberry’s, a five and dime store on Main Street in Franklin. She also worked as the Payroll Administrator for many years at Dean Junior College also in Franklin. For the duration of the business, she handled most of the financial flow of her husband’s service station, Silvi’s Garage on Pleasant Street in Franklin. In her later years, she volunteered as an accountant at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick MA.
Barbara enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling with her husband to destinations including cruises to Bermuda and cities like Washington DC, playing bridge with her bridge club, running Bingo at her 55+ community, and watching the Red Sox and Bruins on NESN. Her laugh was distinctively audible and contagious.
