Giovanni Guglielmi, age 88, of Medford passed away on Saturday, February 17th. Born and raised in Pettorano sul Gizio, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Edmondo and Constantina (Monaco) Guglielmi. Giovanni proudly served in the Italian Air Force before immigrating to the U.S. in 1959. He settled first in Boston’s North End before moving to Medford in 1974, and was employed in construction. Giovanni was an avid soccer fan, and loved gardening and doing projects around the house, but most of all he loved spending time with family.
Giovanni was the beloved husband of the late Anna (Franciose) Guglielmi, and the devoted father to his son John Guglielmi and his wife Jackie, and daughter Linda Vigorito, all of Stoneham. He was the loving grandfather of Nicholas Vigorito and his wife Kelly, Jaclyn Amicangelo, Micaela Guglielmi, Alessia Guglielmi, and Giovanni Guglielmi, III, and the great grandfather of Paul Thomas Amicangelo, III. Giovanni was the dear brother of Teresa Trombetta and her husband Erminio, and Annamaria DiFonte and her husband Pasquale, all of Italy, and the late Panfilo Guglielmi. Giovanni was the brother-in-law of Angelo Franciose, and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday, February 27th from 4 through 8 PM, and again on Wednesday, February 28th at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
