CHICOPEE – Irene J. (Hebert) Lacroix, 90, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 16, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Britton Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee on December 30, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Edna (Desjardins) Hebert. She was raised and educated in Fairview, moved to the Willimansett section of the city, and lived in the Aldenville section for the last 35 years of her life. She was employed as a Book Binder at the National Blank Book, now, Avery Denison in Holyoke. Irene enjoyed dancing, bowling, boating and water skiing on the Connecticut River, and trying her luck at the casinos. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond L. Lacroix who was Called Home on July 29, 1999; her longtime companion, Henry “Lionel” Courchesne who was Called Home on October 25, 2021; her dear brother, Leo J. and his wife, Corinne (Hamelin) Hebert; and her dear niece, Karen T. Riley. She leaves her four loving nieces and nephews, Debra J. Maurer of Granby, and David L. Hebert, Donna M. Hebert and Paul R. Hebert, all of Chicopee; her many dear cousins especially Theresa Paul of Chicopee; her grandnephews; her grandniece; extended family members and friends. Her family will receive friends on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
