Obituary

CHICOPEE – Michaline V. “Mitzi” (Kowal) Staszko Vincellette, 90, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 19, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at the Pioneer Valley Health and Rehabilitation in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home in Hadley on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Martin and Victoria (Kozlowski) Kowal. She was raised in Hadley and where she graduated from Hopkins Academy, lived in Northampton and Easthampton, and moved to Chicopee in 1971 where she lived the remainder of her life. Mitzi was passionate about reading, sometimes reading three books at a time, worked for several local book stores and could frequently be found at the Chicopee Public Library. In addition to reading, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crocheting. She enjoyed attending functions at the Moose Family Center and the Knights of Columbus Elder Council 69, both in Chicopee. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, family and many friends. She was everything to her children. She was predeceased by her former husband, Eugene M. Staszko. She leaves her beloved husband, Richard W. “Vince” Vincellette. They were married at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee on June 2, 1972 and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. In addition to her husband, she leaves her five loving children, Cynthia A. Brown and her husband, Toby, of Russell, Mitchell E. Staszko and his wife, Jean, of Belchertown, Mark A. Staszko and his wife, Mary, of Carlisle, PA, Kimberly A. Blair and her husband, James, of Easthampton, and Eric M. Staszko and his wife, Lynette, of Chicopee; her four step children, Paul R. Vincellette of Ludlow, Lynn M. Wright and her husband, David, of Connecticut, Ann M. Reno of Ludlow, and Mark A. Vincellette and his wife, Linda, of Hadley; her ten cherished grandchildren, Brandi Cardona and her husband, Vincent, Brett Staszko, Brandon Staszko, Mitchell Staszko and his partner, Laida Maiolatesi, Mark Staszko Jr. and his wife, Colleen, William Stewart III and his wife, Diana, Timothy Stewart and his wife, Alice, Kristen Irizarry and her husband, Robert, Alexander Staszko, and Anthony Staszko and his wife, Miranda; her 12 cherished great grandchildren, Maxwell, Scarlett, and Amelia Cardona, Madelyn and Maya Staszko, William Stewart IV, Troy, Natalie, Sasha, and Sonya Stewart, and Cora and Robert Irizarry II; her many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and her extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and former husband, she was predeceased by her loving daughter, Tracey Vincellette; her four dear sisters, Nellie Ahearn and her husband, Michael, Veronica Kowal, Jennie Timmons and her husband, Joseph, and Amelia Day and her husband, Leonard; her dear brother, Mitchell Kowal; and her step grandson, Nathan Gray. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
