Hamilton F. Smith, lovingly known as “Smitty”, “Papa” and “Dad” passed away peacefully with family by his side at the age of 86. Hamilton lived in Plymouth but was formally of Dorchester, MA.
Hamilton was pre-deceased by his dear parents James and Hattie Smith. Also pre-deceased by his loving children, Brian Smith and Karen Garney, and their mother, Maureen Smith O'Sullivan. He is survived by his children, James Smith and his spouse Margaret of Dorchester, Mark Smith and his wife Maria of Reading, Marlene Jankowski and her husband Richard of Plymouth. Survived by his sister, Donna and her husband Daryl Jones of Florida, his brother James Smith and his wife Sheila of Florida, and his brother, Arthur Smith of Leominster. Hamilton is also survived by many adoring grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Hamilton will be deeply missed by his family, friends and beloved dog, Barney.
Hamilton was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and the American Legion Post in Plymouth. Hamilton was an electrician by trade, proud member of the Boston Pipefitters Union, Local 537 for 38 years. Scots' Charitable Society. After his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, cribbage, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Peter’s Church in Plymouth on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024 @ 10:30am. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
