Obituary

Phyllis L. (Lawrence) Squire, age 91, a resident of Raynham for the past 33 years, died after a brief illness on February 11, 2024. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Desmond and Irene (Blee) Lawrence. Phyllis was the wife of the late George W. Squire, her one true love.

Phyllis was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1950 and was a supervisor at Knapp Shoe before working as a Medical Secretary in the emergency room and later in the surgery department at Goddard Hospital/Signature Healthcare. During her retirement years Phyllis worked as a recess aide at Moreau Hall Elementary school in North Easton and volunteered at the MSPCA shelter in Brockton.

Loyal and generous with her time to both family and friends, Phyllis navigated her life with grace, dignity, strength and unwavering faith. In her leisure time, Phyllis enjoyed reading a wide variety of books, watching her beloved Red Sox and listening to Elvis. She found pleasure in caring for her animals but most of all cherished time with her children and grandchildren. Phyllis gave generously to her favorite charities which included St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Xaverian Brothers High School, where her grandsons attended.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters Karyn M. Squire of Raynham and Kathleen M. Squire-Le and her husband Hai T. Le of Seekonk and three grandchildren: Harrison Squire Le, Quinton Benjamin Le and Juliet Emerson Le. She was the loving sister of Marietta F. Wood of Easton and the late Charles D. Lawrence of Braintree and sister-in-law of the late David S. Wood Jr. and the late Ann Lawrence. Phyllis was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Sunday, February 25 from 1-4. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford, RI on Monday, February 26, at 10am followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
