Edward Francis Othmer, age 81, of Medford passed away on Thursday, February 15th. Raised and educated in Boston’s West End and Somerville, he was the son of the late Albert and Victoria (Jackowitch) Othmer. Edward has lived in Medford for the last 55 years. He was employed as a Quality Control Engineer for General Electric, and was a graduate of their apprentice program. Edward was a successful investor in the stock market and also enjoyed collecting coins. He loved spending time at Hampton Beach with family, doing carpentry and woodworking, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Edward was the beloved husband of Patricia (Magno) Othmer, and the devoted father of Edward Othmer Jr. and his wife Lisa of Poway, CA, and Karen Smith and her husband Andrew of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of Kira, Keri, Connor, Nicholas and Shannon, and the dear brother of Mary Risser, Janice Noseworthy, Kathy Lupo, and the late Albert “Sonny” Othmer and Robert “Yashew” Othmer. Edward was the brother-in-law of the late Laura Sullivan and Geraldine Smith, and is survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 21st from 10 through 11 AM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
