Sara Gail Ross, 85, of Ocilla, Georgia, died February 15, 2024, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. James Griffin and the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church on Sunday.
Mrs. Ross was born September 16, 1938, in Nashville, Georgia, to the late Lucious L. & Leona Roberts Browning. She was a graduate of Berrien County High School where she was a 2-time All-Region Basketball player. She also played tennis. She worked for C & S Bank as well as the National Bank of Fitzgerald. Mrs. Ross also worked for Ocilla Gin. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling. She dearly loved her family and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she led the choir and kept the nursery.
She is survived by her sons: Don & Karen Ross of Ocilla and Greg & Heather Ross of Ocilla; grandchildren: Christi & Bryan Allen, Evan Ross, Tanner Ross, Felicia Howard, and J. B. & McKenzie Cote’; great-grandchildren: Ian Ross Allen, Kate Allen, Olivia Howard, Coraline Cote’, and Felix Cote’; two brothers: Tillman & Shirley Browning of Fayetteville and Earl & JoAnn Browning of Nashville; and a sister, Meredith Lilquist of Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. “Sleepy” Ross; a daughter, Teresa Garner Cote’; a grandson, William Donald “Donnie” Ross; and a granddaughter, Jessica Lorane Ross.
