SULLIVAN, Peter of West Roxbury, died February 12, 2024 at the age of 87.
Peter was a graduate of Roslindale High School and Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Born and raised in West Roxbury, he sailed all over the world as an engineering officer in the Merchant Marine. After his retirement he could often be seen taking his long early morning walks through West Roxbury and Roslindale.
Peter will be sadly missed by his much-loved longtime best friend Susan Ross.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nancy Sullivan; his nieces Siobhan and Maeve Foley, Eileen Sullivan and Deirdre Stiles; his nephews Philip Gulla, Charles, John, Timothy, Hugh and Brian Sullivan and all of their extended families. He will also be missed by the Ross family who considered Peter one of their family for many years.
Peter was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Margaret (Connelly) Sullivan, his siblings Richard Sullivan, Elinor Foley, Fr. Ernest Sullivan and Margaret Gulla, and his nephew Michael Sullivan.
Visiting hours will be held Monday February 19, 2024 at William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury from 9-10:30 am followed by Funeral Mass at 11 am at St Theresa Church 2078 Centre St. West Roxbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Class of 1957 Scholarship fund, 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay MA 02532.
