DUDLEY – Donald W. Gadoury, 74, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 8, 2024 at his home.
He leaves 3 children, Robert D. Gadoury of Lincoln, NE, Jennifer R. Gadoury and her husband John M. James, and Michael D. Gadoury, all of Dudley; a brother, James S. Gadoury and his wife Maria of Woodstock, CT; 3 sisters, LuAnn Gadoury of Dudley, Jean E. Deary of Thompson, CT and Janet E. Gadoury of Dudley; 5 grandchildren, Lillian, Natalie, Thomas, Charles and Oliver James. He was preceded in death by an infant sister Karen E. Gadoury, by his sister Beverly A. Gadoury and by his brother Richard P. Gadoury.
He was born on March 19, 1949 in Webster, the first of the 8 children of Henry J. and Eleanora E. (Kokernak) Gadoury. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1967 where he was a member of the Latin club. He attended Lowell Technical School.
Mr. Gadoury was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Vietnam as a Vietnamese linguist in the Intelligence Unit. After his military service he continued his federal service for an additional 20 years in the United States Postal Service, first in Westborough and then in Springfield, retiring in 2011.
He was a member of the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184. He loved to read, especially history, and also liked sports, politics and playing chess: he won several tournaments in the area. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 9, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street, Webster (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
