Donald R. Willfong, age 77, of Bridgewater, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the husband of the late Kathleen A. (Pearson) Willfong.
Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Marion J. and Rosemary (Menne) Willfong.
A graduate of West Memphis High School, Class of 1965, he later attended Naval School. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1976, serving as a Fire Control Technician on the USS Richard L. Page DEG/FFG 5 for part of his Naval Career.
Don worked as a Medical Field Service Engineer with General Electric Medical Systems for 35 years installing and servicing MRIs throughout the northeast before retiring in 2011.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR, enjoyed watching Western’s, especially ones with John Wayne, going to Cape Cod with his late wife, loved his golden retrievers and enjoyed backyard cookouts and holiday gatherings with his family.
Mr. Willfong is survived by his two children, Erin Willfong, of Watertown and Stacy Willfong, and her partner Marc Oshry, of South Weymouth; a sister, Barbara Carmon and her husband Harold of FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Margaret Willfong, Brenda Willfong, Bill Willfong, and Juanita Willfong. Don was also preceded in death by his parent in-laws, Marguerite and Jack Barry.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, from 9:30 to 11:00 am, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment with military honors will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
