WORCESTER__ Sophie B. (Mierzejewski) Urbec, 92, of Worcester died, Friday, July 7, 2006 at Autumn Village, 25 Oriol Dr. She leaves her sons, John C. Urbec and his wife Janice of Branson, MO, and James S. Urbec and his wife Linda of Spencer, MA; three daughters, Elizabeth J. Urbec and Clara A. Urbec of Worcester and Martha W. Heirtzler and her husband Paul of Concord, NH.; a sister Jane Fleming of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grand children and a great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her former husband John G. Urbec, brothers Stanley and Adam Mierzejewski and a sister Irene Mahoney. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Alexander and Helena (Bialobrzewski) Mierzejewski and lived here all her life. She worked at the Slovin Slack, Co. as a stitcher retiring in 1962. She graduated from the former Commerce High School. Sophie enjoyed being with her family and crocheting.
A funeral will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St.,with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 495 Old Connecticut Path, Suite 220, Framingham, MA, 01701.
