Sandra L. Marinelli, 82, of Hanson, MA passed away peacefully in her home February 11th after a long illness.
Born in Cambridge in 1941 was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen (Healey) Grimshaw. She was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls. Worked for RH Sterns Co in Boston. She spent several years working at the Green Shoe, now known as Stride Rite. After raising her children, she worked at Dick’s Place, the Hallmark Store, and as a baker in the bakery of Stop & Shop. Mom always put 110% where ever she worked and whatever she did.
She volunteered for the Hanson recreation committee, and so many other town committees. She was an avid bowler winning so many trophies. She loved swimming and gardening. She really enjoyed spending time with so many different friends. She left many pearls of wisdom to everyone she knew. Mom always remembered everyone, whether it was with a card, a token, call or memorabilia. She loved to make others feel special. She enjoyed her monthly scat games with her dear friends. She had a special connection with her godchild, Christine. She remained very close to her childhood friend, Kay for more than 77 years.
She was the wife of the late Robert Marinelli for 41 years. She leaves behind her children Maria Burns and her husband Kenneth of Hanson, Sandra Garden and her husband Mike of Whitman, Jean Lindvall of Abington, and Robert Marinelli and his wife Kendall of Hubbardston. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Mason, Paula Vietze, and Jean Giammalvo. She leaves behind her younger brother Robert Grimshaw of RI. She was a dear friend of Bill W.
Family and friends are invited to attend Sandra’s visiting hours Sunday from 1:00-3:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be private at a later date.
