Edward Nicholas Morris, 90, of Tewksbury, MA peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus. He met his wife, Shirley Elizabeth (Anderson) Morris, while working as an orderly at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. They would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary this June.
Ed was born on January 29, 1934, in Boston, the son of the late Elsie Morris. He was raised by James and Doris Harkins of Westford, MA. His upbringing began in Woburn until his family moved to Chelmsford, where he attended local schools. Edward later graduated from Springfield College with his Bachelor's Degree in Teacher Education.
While raising their four children, Ed and Shirley lived in Lynn, MA, Albuquerque, NM, and Danvers, MA. They retired in Wrentham, MA before settling in Tewksbury, MA until his passing. Ed dedicated over 28 years of his career as a cost forecaster at General Electric, primarily stationed at their Lynn location, but also serving in roles in Everett and Albuquerque, NM. He was also a retired Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves serving on the USS Leyte.
Ed attended and volunteered at a local church wherever he lived, using his financial skills to support the church or mowing lawns and helping out with maintenance in any way he could. He found pleasure in activities such as boating, camping, golf, and traveling. However, above all else, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, particularly enjoying camping adventures with them.
Ed leaves behind his four children, Kevin Morris and his wife, Cynthia of Rehoboth, Scott Morris and his wife, Janet of Billerica, Susan Rubino and her husband, Louis of Griswold, CT and Glenn Morris of Peabody; his adoring grandchildren, James Morris, Steven Morris and his wife, Mariana, Julie Sandoval and her husband, Ricky, Alison Lopes and her husband Tim, Brittney McVeigh, Melissa Morris, Nicole Morris, Casey Rubino, Tanner Rubino, Glenn Morris Jr. and Sydney Morris and her partner Joel Rodriguez, Michael Ouellette and his wife Kendra, Kristen Ouellette; and his great grandchildren, Maya, Quincy, Hazel Degeis, Morgan and Holly Ouellette, Olivia Rodriguez, and Alana Lopes.
