Diane E. Owens, 79

Diane E. (Baldini) Owens, age 79, a resident of Oak Point in Middleboro, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth P. Owens, to whom she was wed on June 29, 1968.
Born in Boston, MA on February 7, 1945, she was a loving daughter of the late Girio P. and Palmina A. “Pal” (Ruzzo) Baldini.
Diane spent her early childhood living in East Boston. Her family later moved to Dedham, where she graduated in 1962 from Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston. She continued her education, graduating from the Plus School of Business in Boston.
A resident of Middleboro for the past four years, Diane was a former longtime resident of Mansfield and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and her working career was spent as a secretary.
Diane’s family was her greatest gift in life and the happiness she received being a grandmother was second -to-none. Actively involved with the Mansfield Elks, Mrs. Owens was a charter member and past president of the Emblem Club and later became a member of the Lodge of Elks, serving as a past exalted ruler. She will always be remembered for her love of reading.
In addition to her husband of fifty-five years, she is survived by her devoted children: Brian M. Owens and his wife Lisa of Mendon, John M. Owens and his wife Laura of Norton, Jennifer A. Gesner and her husband Marcus of Norton, Daniel P. Owens and his wife Jill of Attleboro and Tara E. George and her husband Christopher of Seekonk. She was the cherished grandmother of Sophia, Andrew, Ava, Duncan, Abigail, Michael, Shaylee, Liam, Sarah, Phoebe and Hunter. She was the dear sister of Joan E. Penta and her husband Robert of Foxborough and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, February 15th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
Her Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
