Worcester – Samuel DeSantis, 77, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center after an extended illness.
Samuel is survived by his children, Keith DeSantis and his wife, Jessica of Merrimack, NH, Amanda Stamatakis of Warren, MA, David DeSantis of Acushnet, MA and Beth Demers of White River Junction, VT; his former wife, Sandra L. (Spafford) DeSantis of Warren, MA; a brother, Doug DeSantis of Lowell, MA; 4 grandchildren, Cole Stamatakis, Rowen Hall, Grace Stamatakis and James DeSantis.
He was born in Lawrence, MA son of the late Harry and Vasilio (Constantis) DeSantis. Samuel proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While serving in the Army, he worked in the capacity of a medic and then later worked at the Walter Reed Medical Center.
Samuel worked for many years for the City of Worcester Public Schools, the Glavin Center and the Perkins School in Lancaster with children that were diagnosed with behavior disorders and autism.
He was a talented musician, especially gifted at playing the piano and vocals. He played for many years and opened for many famous bands in the early years including, Aerosmith, Ike and Tina Turner as well as the Rascals.
Samuel enjoyed spending time at the ocean, specifically York Beach but he was truly the happiest when he was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 15 from 5 to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 16 promptly at 1 PM in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery 111 Glenallen Street Winchendon, MA.
