Dr. Newton J. Friedman 1939-2023
Newton J. Friedman, MD, was born in Chicago to Edna Friedman, Esq. and David Friedman, DDS. He lived in Chicago until he attended Cornell University at the age of 15. Newton then graduated from Cornell Medical School in New York City and went on to do his internship at UC San Francisco. After finishing his residency at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA, he came to Ventura, where he practiced cardiology for 44 years.
Newton had a deep knowledge and appreciation for art, but music was part of his blood. He was a professional-level pianist and gave many concerts in Ventura and Los Angeles over a period of decades, and moved the hearts and souls of so many people with his love of music.
Newton married Josephine in 1963. They had two sons, Sol and Jonah Friedman. Newton also leaves four grandchildren, David, Isabella, Natalie and Brett. He later married Vonise Guadagno who was a concert pianist, and the two of them gave many wonderful concerts and years together. Newton will continue to be in our hearts and minds and will always be remembered.
