Theodore V. "Teddy" Anzalone, a longtime resident of Boca Raton, Florida and Stoneham, formerly of East Boston and the North End of Boston, entered into eternal life peacefully with his beloved wife by his side on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Trust Bridge Hospice Boca Care Center in Boca Raton, Florida. He was 98 years of age.
Teddy was born in Boston on July 17, 1925, a son of the late Angelo Anzalone and Filomena (Piccirillo) Anzalone. He grew up in East Boston where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from East Boston High School in 1942. He enlisted into the United States Coast Guard on November 21, 1942, and served his country faithfully and with courage during World War II. He was honorably discharged on December 4, 1945, with the rank of Seaman First Class. He is also a Disabled American Veteran. Teddy then furthered his education and received his Bachelor's Degree from Suffolk University and then received his Law Degree from Suffolk University.
Teddy served the City of Boston faithfully for many years and was a confidant and close friend to the former City of Boston Mayor Kevin H. White. He was the Commissioner of Assessing for the City of Boston and Manager of the John B. Hynes Convention Center. He was also the Director of Corporations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and he also served as a Public Defender for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Teddy was very passionate and spent many years raising funds for leukemia research which unfortunately leukemia took the life of his son Teddy Jr. in 2016.
In his spare time, Teddy enjoyed golfing and gardening, especially his tomato plants. He enjoyed cooking huge Italian meals for family gatherings and his large group of close friends.
Teddy is the loving husband to Joanne Prevost Anzalone. He is the devoted father of Beth Anzalone, Mark Anzalone and his wife Paula and the late Theodore V. "Teddy" Anzalone Jr. and his surviving wife MaryEllen. He is the loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of the late Joseph Anzalone, Rose Vincola, Angela Murphy, Anthony Anzalone and Vera DiGregorio. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved companion and pet dog Petunia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Teddy's Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:30 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield. His burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
