Obituary

LACONIA — Jeannette Rose Giguere, 83, of Court Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Francis Home after having spent the day with her children and their spouses.

Jeannette graduated from Sacred Heart High School - Laconia, Class of 1958. It was a class of 13 girls and 2 boys. With it being a modern world, Jeannette was soon engaged and married to the love of her life, Don Giguere. By the age of 20, Jeannette had given birth to a twin boy and girl, Donny and Donna and 15 months later she had Cathy. Jeannette and Don didn’t “wait around,” they were on their own with a new house, new kids and new jobs. Jeannette worked only one job her whole life starting as an operator at age 18 at the telephone company on North Main St. Laconia, NH, and working her way up during 35 years of commitment to an engineering position planning telephone pole locations.

Jeannette and Don both from big families enjoyed the love and affection of many sisters and brothers and cousins and nieces and nephews. On most every weekend there were many social gatherings at the “Lot,” which was the camp they had on Lake Winnisquam. After the kids flew the coop, Jeannette and Don ended up on their own on Westview Drive, Belmont, NH, behind the St. Francis Home. They had a second wind and built a new house with the help of many dear friends and family.

Jeannette was a trophy winning champion golfer in the Women's Twilight League at Oak Hill in the 70’s and 80’s. Jeannette spent her retirement traveling around the state of New Hampshire with Don playing a new golf course every week. They eventually volunteered and played at the Lochmere Golf course in Winnisquam, NH. Jeannette was a regular volunteer at the Sacred Heart craft fairs with her sisters Claire Giguere and Simone Fortin. After spending many years walking her foot trail above the St. Francis Home Jeannette sold the house on Westview Dr. and moved to the St. Francis Home where she could look out her window and see the house with many fond memories.

Jeannette is predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Marie Nadeau; sisters Lorraine (wife of Sylvio Labbe) and Simone (wife of Maurice Fortin); and brother Rene (husband of Barbara Nadeau).

She is survived by her sisters Claire (wife of Robert Giguere), Florence (wife of Arthur Guilmett), and Edna Foote; brother Andre (husband of Rachel Nadeau); children Donald J. Giguere, Donna (wife of Joe Alexander) and Catherine (wife of Phil Coseno); 8 grandchildren, Jason (husband of Kate Andersen), Molly Coseno-Rosner (wife of Ray Rosner), Terri (wife of Tony Segalini), Jonelle Colbath, Derek (husband of Casey Colbath), Joseph Alexander, Michael Alexander and Jennifer Coseno; 7 great-grandchildren Carter Segalini, Christina Segalini, Rylee Colbath, Isabella Colbath, Isaac Colbath, Macy Colbath and Layla Colbath.

The family would like to thank the staff of the St. Francis Home for taking such good care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest sending donations in Jeannette’s memory to the St. Francis Home, Attn: Recreation Department, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
