George J. Longfellow, 96 died peacefully on February 4, 2024 at Granite VNA Hospice House after a long and full life.
He was born in Franklin, NH on June 6, 1927, the son of George and Beatrice (Trottier) Longfellow.
He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy Seebee’s.
He was owner, operator of Longfellow Garage in Hooksett before retiring.
He held membership in American Legion Post #27, Lions Club, and Men’s Club as well as a Councilman and on the Police Commissioners board and a Scout Leader all for the town of Hooksett.
In addition to all the organizations he was involved with, George enjoyed country music line dancing and traveling. One of his favorite places to visit was Las Vegas. When not traveling, his favorite thing was having his large family visit, especially Friday nights with the grandkids when he would make them canned spaghetti and hamburg.
His family includes his wife of 28 years, Arlene (Lord) Longfellow of Hooksett, six children; Sandra Lamarsh (Albert) of Wakefield, MA., Richard Longfellow (Laura) of Hooksett, William Longfellow (Kathleen) of Arizona, Cynthia Gagne (Yves) of Pembroke, Catherine Longfellow of Hooksett, Jason Howland of Florida, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, one brother, Donald Longfellow (Frances) of West Virginia, two sisters; Pauline Palmer and Jeanne Stewart, both of Manchester. .
He was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth Longfellow, two sons; David Longfellow and James Longfellow, and several brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1 to 3 pm in J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A prayer service will take place on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 9:30 am in the funeral home.
Committal prayers with military honors will follow in NH Veterans Cemetery.
