Maria M. "Tillie" (Capeto) Silva, 85, of Westport, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Silva.
Tillie was born in Soa Miguel, Azores daughter of the late Manuel P. and Mary L. (Ramos) Capeto and had been a longtime resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, she worked as a seamstress for various mills in Fall River. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Mrs. Silva enjoyed crocheting, painting, traveling and was an avid gardener. Her greatest joy was spending time with and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her son: John Silva and his wife Hilary of FL; her 4 daughters: Natalie Silva and her husband John of Westport, Anna Munroe and her husband Leonard of Tiverton, Christine Swiencki and her husband Randy of KY and Maggie Viera and her husband Greg of Westport; a brother: Samuel M. Capeto of Fall River; 2 sisters: Mary S. Machado of Somerset and M. Louisa Ramos of Westport; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Capeto.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, February 9, 2024 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
