She attended Nursing School in Chicago, IL, and while attending met Ed, who was in the Navy. They recently had celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Hilda went on to earn her Nursing Management degree from St. Joseph College while working as a Nurse at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. She eventually rose to the position of Head Nurse of the Intensive Care Unit, a position she held for many years until shortly before her retirement.
Hilda loved to sew, quilt, and as a runner even completed a full marathon. She also found much enjoyment swimming from the family boat in Ram Island bay at the mouth of the Mystic River.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry, CT Saturday, February 10, at 11:30 AM.
