IRENE (HURD) BROTHERS OBITUARY
Irene (Hurd) Brothers, 85, of Cherry Tree, PA died at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
She was born on October 3, 1938 at home in La Jose, PA.
Irene was the daughter of Cecil and Anna Hurd. She graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1956.
On September 30, 1961, she married Edgar “Ed” Alva Brothers. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2020. Together they operated Beaver Valley Dairy Farm.
Irene was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who was greatly devoted to her family. She was involved with the Harmony Grange Fair for over 50 years, where she was the supervisor of baked goods and oversaw the running of the Chance Booth with her husband, Ed.
One of Irene’s favorite pastimes was watching game shows.
She is survived by her four children: Christine (Joseph) Novella, Janet (Dennis) Farmery, Michael Brothers and Jennifer (Darren) Peterson; her seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Richard) Leite, Meghan (Kory) Trimmer; Evan (Emma) Novella; Alexander (Branda) Farmery; Michaela (John) Wissinger; Ethan Peterson; Abby Brothers; her two great grandchildren: Trent and Xavier Leite; and her five siblings: Floyd Hurd; James (Sally) Hurd; Earl (Kathy) Hurd; Ruth (Al) Bell and Sharon Irvine.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter-in-law: Jodi Blatt; her siblings: Cecil Hurd, Jr; Marie Rishell; Grace Ann Dropps; Millie Solley and Russell Hurd.
Family and friends will be received from 1-3:00 p.m. and 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 7:00 p.m. funeral service will take place immediately following the evening visitation. Officiant will be her brother, Pastor James Hurd.
