SCARBOROUGH- Shawn J. Richards, 43, of Scarbrough, formerly of Standish, passed unexpectedly at home January 31, 2024.
Shawn was born in Portland, Maine on December 1, 1980, the eldest son of Dale and Cheryl Richards. Shawn graduated with the class of 1999 from Bonny Eagle High School.
Shawn was employed in a few occupations, but culinary arts was his passion at Sebago Brew, The Little Tap House and O'Reily's in Scarborough. He was a great Chef ! He also worked at RadioShack in Standish.
He was a Boy Scout in younger years and played Baseball from Little League to High school. He was an avid gamer and many late night poker games with friends. He enjoyed Nascar races with his father and brother. Summers were spent going to the lake with his family. As a kid going to Grammy & Grampy Richards camp up North, with all of his cousins. Shawn climbed Mount Katadin with his father, Dale, Brother Ryan and sister Kim, Uncle Scotty, Uncle Ricky, and Richards cousins.
He was an avid Red Sox fan and New England Patriots.
Shawn was predeceased by his father Dale, in 2011. Grandparents Clayton and Nadine Richards, Donald and Barbara Anderson and several Aunts and Uncles. He is survived by his mother Cheryl Richards of Scarborough, Brother Ryan and wife Michelle, nephew Ryan Richards of Windham, Sisters Kim Richards of Scarborough, Velvet and husband Aaron Bennett with whom he lived with in Guilford for a brief time. Nephews Owen and Lloyd Bennett and one niece Elaina Bennett Fortier also of Guilford Many aunts, uncles and cousins and So many Dear friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10th from 11AM - 12PM, followed by a 12 noon service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Kiwanis Club Building in Standish on Rt. 25.
