Jeannine grew up in the Island Grove neighborhood of Abington, MA and graduated from Abington High School, class of 1958. In her yearbook, the quote chosen for her was “Grace was in her steps and heaven in her eyes.” Jeannine was a member of the Girls Athletic Association; she played basketball, field hockey and softball all through high school.

Jeannine worked as a bookkeeper at Ganley’s in Brockton, MA before meeting and marrying MacKenzie (Mac) Smith in 1965. They were married for 56 years before his passing from Alzheimer’s in November 2021. She and Mac took pleasure in spending time outdoors, especially in the gardens and grounds of their beloved home on Elm Street in North Easton, MA. Jeannine and Mac enjoyed family camping trips, playing tennis and cross country and downhill skiing, especially at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH where they owned a second home for many years.

Jeannine also loved golfing, both with her husband and friends, at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, MA and Lely Resort in Naples, FL. She was an avid gardener and crafter and a long-time member of the Easton Garden Club. Jeannine was active for many years in the Natural Resource Trust (NRT) of Easton and in their Harvest and Craft Fair. She also discovered a love of cooking from her late mother-in-law Ruth Smith and was known for serving her family and friends gourmet meals.

Jeannine is survived by her three children Angela Adams and her husband Jonathan of Thornton, NH, James Smith and his wife Kimberly of West Bridgewater, MA and Graham Smith and his wife Michele of Taunton, MA. Jeannine (Mimi) is survived by her cherished eight grandchildren: MacKenzie Adams of Pawtucket, RI, Leeson Adams of East Boston, MA, Tessa, Mia and Gianna Smith of West Bridgewater, MA and Lauren, Sean and Caitlin Smith of Taunton, MA. She is also survived by her sisters Arlene Bieker, Kathy Sullivan and Maureen Matthewson and her brothers James and Richard Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main Street, North Easton MA on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated.
