Obituary

Marie was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 25,1920, the eldest of three children of Peter and Elizabeth (Alfieri) Fiorino. She was a “city girl” at heart and was a lover of everything historic. Growing up in the heart of Boston her roots were surrounded with the events of all that took place in Boston’s history. She was an avid reader and her library reflected her love of classic literature. Her work as a Research Librarian at the University of Lowell in Lowell, MA contributed to her ongoing enjoyment and satisfaction.

Her love of “hearth and home” were no less evident. She was a warm and devoted mother and a superb cook. Her Italian ancestry came through in everything she did - her deep belief in close family ties and her commitment to the values of family life were strong and enduring.

In 1937 Marie married Charles C. DiCiaccio and shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in July of 1987 leaving three daughters, their spouses and eight grandchildren.

In 1992 she found her way to Vermont to house-sit for her daughter and son-in-law for a period of three years. During this time she filled her days as a tour guide at the Vermont State House. In 1994 she applied for a volunteer position as an interpreter of museum artifacts at the Shelburne Museum in Burlington, VT. It was there that she met and later married Dr. Jay Keller sharing 24 years of marriage.

Marie was a kind, generous, devoted and forgiving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, aunt and friend. Her life’s light will remain in the hearts and memories of all who came to know her.

She was the beloved wife of Dr. Jay E. Keller, and the late Charles C. DiCiaccio. Devoted mother of Elizabeth “Bette” Glavin and her husband Tom, Phyllis Knight and her husband Joe, and the late Nancy Serraino and her late husband Renato. Caring step mother of David Keller (Natalie), Lori Luke (Robert), Patricia Baker, Michael Keller, Marilyn Keller (Sean Gilligan), Mark Keller (Brenda Pitmon), Pauline Clark (Charles), and Timothy Keller (Cahokia Cheng). Loving grandmother of David Glavin, Michael Glavin and his wife Lisa, Mark Glavin and his wife Meridith, Bryan Knight and his wife Tara, Ashley Dhaliwal and her husband Maghar, Charles Serraino, John Serraino and Frank Serraino. Proud and loving great grandmother of Thomas W. Glavin. Dear sister of Joseph Fiorino and his wife Claire, the late Phyllis Cordisco and her late husband Mike, and the late Stanley Repucci and his surviving wife Patty. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at a later date.
