Mary Frith Snyder, born June 10, 1926 passed away peacefully at home in Fitzgerald, Georgia, on January 30, 2024. Born at home in Cottonwood, Alabama, Mary spent most of her adult life in Athens, Georgia.
After a whirlwind romance of three weeks, Mary became engaged to, and quickly married Gordon Edward (Ed) Snyder. That marriage lasted 57 years until Ed's death in 2005.
Employed at the University of Georgia for over 30 years, Mary became an avid Bulldog fan. The only exception was when they played Alabama where Ed went to school. She loved college football, working in her yard, and Fox News. But most of all, she loved her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Several years after Ed's death, Mary relocated to Fitzgerald, Georgia to be closer to her family. In Fitzgerald, Mary developed another set of friends who cared very much for her.
Predeceasing her were her parents, Annie Lee Miller Frith and Henry Augusta Frith along with brothers Artrelle and Sidney Frith. Also predeceasing her was the love of her life, Ed Snyder and son Neil Harding Snyder.
Survivors include: Craig (Jonni) Snyder of Fitzgerald, GA; Katie (Neil's widow) Snyder of Townville, SC; and Carol (Pete) Roberts of Bonita Springs, FL; six grandchildren and their spouses and 14 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her long term caregivers, Wanda Andrews, Nel Jackson and more recently Elaine Wilcox, and Travis Bozeman that cared for her so tenderly in her last days.
A celebration of life will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, located on the corner of South Lee Street and West Jessamine Street, with her son, the Rev. Craig Snyder officiating.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
