Sophia Dubicki, 84, passed peacefully at her home in Noank Village on Jan. 28, 2024, with her family by her side. Sophia was born in Pieczalowka, Poland, the daughter of Stanislaw and Teofila Ogorek. Sophia was predeceased by her husband Zigmont "Ziggy" Dubicki and her daughter Vanessa.
Sophia is survived by her son Donald and daughter Christina (William) Collins . Her sisters, Maria (Joseph) Zacharewicz and Stanislawa (Bolslaw) Witczak; brother in-law Robert Fenn and sister in-law Shannon Dubicki. Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews in both the States and Poland. Sophia was also predeceased by her sister Wanda (Romuald) Stejka; brother in-law Attorney Henry Dubicki, sister in-law Margaret Fenn, brother in-law Attorney Narcyz Dubicki, niece Jamie Bryan Vilani and grand niece Gemma Bryan.
Sophia was a devoted mother, loving wife and cherished sister. Sophia worked at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She then worked at TJ Maxx for many years helping people choose just the right piece of jewelry. Sophia always enjoyed the peolpe she met. Most important to Sophia was spending time with her children, family and friends.
She enjoyed many years singing in the St. Mary's Church Choir. She loved baking (especially cheesecakes and cookies), yoga, taking walks in the village and flower gardening.
Sophia always had a positive outlook on life, a smile on her face and lived her life with grace, courage and dignity. She is greatly loved and will forever be in our hearts.
Visitation will be 8:30 -9:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3 at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary Mother of the Reedemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Noank Valley Cemetery.
