Ata Jose Andrade born on January 25, 1933, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center at the age of 91.
Ata was born in Mosteiros, Fogo, Cabo Verde, son of the late Joaquim Andrade and Albertina Goncalves Andrade. Ata was a shoemaker by trade and a communicant of St. Edith Stein Parish. Ata enjoyed playing cards, mancala, listening to traditional Cape Verdean music, and socializing with his family and friends.
Ata is survived by 3 daughters, Leonor R. Andrade, Lucia R. Andrade, and Endia R. Andrade all of Brockton and 7 sons, Carlos A. Andrade, The Nonpareil Hilario, Jacinto R. Andrade, and Jimmy R. Andrade all of Brockton, Melvin R. Andrade and Queven R. Andrade both of Florida, Joaquim R. Andrade of Cabo Verde and his sister Isabel Jose Andrade of Cabo Verde, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, on Sunday, February 11th from 5-8 pm.
Services will begin on Monday, February 12th at 9 am at the same location, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Edith Stein Parish on 71 East Main Street, Brockton, at 10 am.
Burial to follow at the Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton.
