Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of Margaret P. Gerard of Wellesley, Ma. on January 29, 2024. Beloved wife of Peter E. Gerard for almost 67 yrs., devoted mother of Michael and Brian.

The sun rose on Sept 4, 1938 in Newton, Ma.- she was born to James & Dahlia Mullen. She is predeceased by Richard and Jane, her older siblings. She was raised in Wellesley, attended Wellesley Public Schools. A longtime resident of Wellesley, she married at 18, began working for the telephone co. as a switchboard operator, eventually gaining employment for the Wellesley Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union as a treasurer/asst. manager before becoming the manager up until her retirement in 2008. A die-hard Red Sox fan Margaret was fiercely proud of her family, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens she had planted around her home. During her retirement years, she devoted time serving as a Eucharistic minister for St. Paul Church in Wellesley, Ma.

Margaret is survived by her husband Peter, her sons Michael of Millis and Brian (his wife Jennifer) of Medway. 6 grandchildren: Olivia, Lucille, Brian Jr., Jacob, Stephen and Grace. She is survived by her youngest sibling James Mullen, Jr (his wife Susan) of Denver, Co. as well as many nieces & nephews, grand nieces & nephews. The sun set for Margaret on January 29, 2024 in the presence of family where she passed away peacefully at the tender age of 85 .

Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley on Saturday, February 10, from 10AM -12 Noon followed by a service in the funeral home at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, any donation would be appreciated to be sent to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
