Obituary

Richard I. Taylor, 74, of Derby, CT, formerly of New Bedford, died Friday July 7, 2006 at Griffin Hospital. He was the husband of the late Dolores M. (Griffith) Taylor.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Norman and Mildred (Robinson) Taylor, he lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for most of his life before moving to Connecticut in 1999.

Mr. Taylor was formerly employed as a sales representative in the fastener industry.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in New Bedford and Connecticut.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Taylor, Jr. of Derby and Robert Taylor and his wife Joyce of New Bedford; a brother, Norman Taylor of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Nancy Reid of Marblehead; a sister-in-law, Sr. Irene M. Griffith, R.S.M. of Newport, RI; and two grandchildren, Bethany and Christopher Taylor.

He was the father of the late Lynne and Mark Taylor.

His Funeral Service will be private. Visiting hours are omitted. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
