Obituary


Theresa O. (Silla) Ciampa, age 93, of Medford passed away on Sunday, January 28th, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in East Boston and later Belmont, she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Julia (Forziati) Silla. As a child Theresa moved with her family to Medford where she graduated from Medford High School in 1947. She attended college for two years and then worked for Joslins as a bookkeeper. It was there she met her husband and love of her life, Frank W. Ciampa, Jr. They married in 1950 and Frank passed away in 1982.

Theresa was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her door was always open for friends. After raising her children, Theresa returned to work as a full charge bookkeeper and administrator of payroll until she retired at age 70. Theresa enjoyed listening to music, watching football, playing cards, solving word searches, and watching Hallmark movies. She enjoyed going to her house on Cape Cod with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to playing miniature golf and walks on the beach. Theresa fought a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease for 27 years, as well as experiencing many orthopedic issues without complaint. She is now finally at peace with her husband.

Theresa was the devoted mother of Diane C. Konieczny of Tewksbury and her late husband Richard J. Konieczny, Frank J. Ciampa of Medford and his loving companion Kathy, and Joyce Ciampa-Mutz of Medford and her husband Frank Mutz. Theresa was the loving grandmother of Craig W. Mutz and his wife Amanda, and Glenn J. Mutz and his wife Jessica. She was the cherished great grandmother of Cole J. Mutz, and the dear sister of Yolanda Foresteire and her late husband Phil, and the late Anthony Silla and his late wife Christine. Theresa is survived by her sister-in-law Theresa Mackey and her late husband Leo. She was predeceased by several brothers-in-law, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Theresa’s family would like to thank Lahey Home Hospice and the health aids that cared for her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with family on Monday, February 5th, in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, from 5 through 8 PM, and again at 9 AM on Tuesday, February 6th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
