Rachel Janet Ramsey

Rachel Janet (Kaster) Ramsey, 83, of Anderson passed away on January 31, 2024 at Primrose Retirement Community following a brief illness.
She was born on December 9, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Benjamin Sr. and Esther (Johnson) Kaster. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School then went to Anderson University where she earned her bachelor degree and her master’s degree in social work from University of Southern Indiana .She was a nurse and social worker in the community for 34 years and retired in 2018.
She was a member of Cross Roads Global Methodist Church where she loved attending. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was a volunteer at Primrose Retirement Community for many years. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Scot (Xin), Cindy, and Shawn; two sisters, Karen and Esther; three grandchildren, Honor (Jason), Noah, and Riley; four great-grandchildren, Norah, Silas, Sawyer, and Miles; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Ramsey in 2018; two sisters, Donna and Kaye and two brothers, David and Benjamin Jr.
A funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Cross Roads Global Methodist Church with Chaplin Rob Mifflin officiating. A nurse’s honor guard service will begin the service. Burial will take place at a later date in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cross Roads Global Methodist Church or The Hopewell Center.
