HEBRON—A. David Jaques, 87, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Speare Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born in New York City, David was one of four children of Dr. Alan and Grace (Ferrin) Jaques. Although David grew up in New York, the family summered in Hebron for years. While in college in Vermont, David was drafted into the US Army where he was a structural steel specialist. After discharge, he lived in Long Island, NY, for several years, but then settled in Miami, FL, where for 13 years he and his long-time business partner and friend, Joel Langbaum, were in construction and the concrete business. In addition, he had obtained his auctioneer’s certification and handled auctions throughout the area.
In 1982, he moved back to Hebron, NH, to care for his parents, residing in the family's historical homestead. For the last 20 years, David primarily operated his own sawmill, custom cutting lumber right up until last year. David was a lover of all animals but especially the parrots, dogs, cats, and crows he has cared for over the years, earning him the nickname "Dr. Dolittle",
