SPRINGFIELD - Michael J. Baldini, 72, of the East Forest Park section of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with his loving family by his side. He was born in Ithaca, New York on July 18, 1951, a beloved son of the late Ralph and Rose (Ciancio) Baldini. He was raised in Ithaca, graduated from Ithaca High School, furthered his education and received a degree in Microbiology and moved to Springfield in 2000. He was employed as a Paralegal in the Legal Department at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Springfield. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Springfield. Michael enjoyed the simple things in life sitting on his patio sipping his beer, playing racquetball, reading, tinkering in his garage with all of his gadgets and volunteered as a reader for the blind on Eye Radio. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Sally K. Murphy. He also leaves his son, Marcus Baldini and his wife, Shanon of Hendersonville, TN; his step son, Christopher M. Calaf of Somers, CT; his three cherished grandchildren, Kayla Calaf and her fiancé, Mario Marena, Christopher M. Calaf, Jr. and Sophia Rose Baldini; his sister, JoAnne Baldini and her husband, Daniel Stomka of Raleigh, NC; his brother, Joseph Baldini and his companion, Carol Davis, of Milton, WA; his two brothers in law, Kenneth Dodd of Florida and Mark Murphy and his partner, Diow Kuakoon of Bangkok, Thailand; his sister in law, Diane Murphy and her partner, Virginia Campbell, of Norwich, CT; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Diane Dodd; and his brother, Ralph "Gus" Baldini. His family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Baystate Medical Center for their compassionate care of Michael during his time with them. His family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial will be private.
