Opal Crawley Young, 89, of Omega passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Crawley officiating. Jerry Wade Hobbs gave a eulogy. Mrs. Young was laid to rest at Salem Memorial Gardens.
Mark Crawley, Darrel Crawley, Butch Green, Gene Green, Glen Green and Ronald Harp served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Hobbs, Tommy Hornbuckle, Carl Green, Ray Crawley, Wendell Lovett, Archie Lovett and Tony Crawley.
Born January 6, 1916, in Tift County, Mrs. Young was the daughter of the later W. E. Crawley and Nina Bell Lovett Crawley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Grey Young. Before retiring, she was a bookkeeper for Georgia Vegetable Company in Tifton; and she was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler and bowled as long as she could.
Mrs. Young is survived by one daughter, Patricia Lynn Young of Omega; one sister, Ozella Hobbs of Tifton; one great-niece, Rachel Green of Tifton; and one great-nephew, Stephen Harp of Tifton.
