Corilyn M. (Baker) Gibau, 58, of New Bedford passed away Sunday January 28, 2024 after a brief illness. She was the wife of Walter Gibau, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Elliot Randolph Baker and Nancy (Costa) Baker, she lived in Dartmouth and New Bedford for most of her life. She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School.
Corilyn was formerly employed as a certified nursing assistant at various local nursing homes and had also been a recovery specialist for area treatment programs.
She loved camping, spending time with her family, and shopping with her granddaughter. Her dogs, Yogi and Boo Boo, were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband Walter; her children, Kimberly Gibau and her companion Jimmy Moreira, Keith Gibau, and Stephanie Serrano, who she considered as a daughter; her siblings, Scott Baker and Lori Nussman; her grandchildren, Amelia, Julian, Osiris, and Elias; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Carrie Anne Gibau, her brother, Kyle Baker, and her Godmother, Dolores Medeiros.
Her visitation will be held on Thursday February 1, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Cremation will follow and a private family burial service will be held at a later date. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
