Paula A. (Giannelli) Coughlin of Medford passed away Saturday, January 27th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center. She was 64. She is the daughter of the Pauline (Silverio) Giannelli and the late Arthur Giannelli.
Paula was raised in Everett and then Winchester, where she attended Winchester High School. Upon graduating, she studied education at Salem State College. After earning her degree, she worked in early childhood education throughout her career in various school systems, finishing up in the Medford public schools.
Paula liked going to the beach, especially Crane Beach in Ipswich and Nahant Beach. At the beach, and at home, she enjoyed a good book and a margarita. Paula loved to cook, especially for her family. Family was the most important thing to Paula and her grandchildren brought joy to her later years. So, both at work and at home, Paula enjoyed children and did what she could to help them learn through her loving care of them.
She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Paula was the beloved wife of the late James E. Coughlin. He passed away in 2017. She was the devoted mother of Christopher Coughlin, formerly of Medford, Mark Coughlin and his wife Nicole of North Carolina, and Kerri Mahota and her husband Matt of Oxford. She was the loving grandmother of Christopher Jr., William, Luke, Hannah, Madison and Mason. She was the devoted sister of Lori Hartnett and the late Dawn Zerameno.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, February 2nd from 10AM-12Noon, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at Noon. Services will conclude with burial will at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
