Palma T. (Angelo) Coccia, age 96, of Mansfield, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Sturdy memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank M. Coccia, who passed away in 1993.
Born in Dedham, MA on September 2, 1927, she was a loving daughter of the late Antonio and Teresa (Vaccaro) Angelo.
Palma grew up in Dedham and was a 1946 graduate of Dedham High School. She was a loving mother to her devoted family and had also worked as a bookkeeper for the Norfolk County Retirement Office and at the former Baybank in Westwood.
A former longtime resident of Dedham, she was active in the community, her involvements being a member of the Allin Congregational Church, a former member and past president of the Dedham Women’s Club, the Dedham Garden Club, the Dedham Boosters Club and the Dedham Council on Aging. Palma had made her home in Mansfield for over fifteen years and enjoyed times spent being a member of the Mansfield Council on Aging.
Palma will always be remembered for her outstanding cooking skills, her strong interest and knowledge of golf and her beautiful knitting.
She is survived by her devoted children: Beverly J. Heitkemper and her husband Lawrence of Maryland, Jeanette F. Seifert and her husband John of Texas and David F. Coccia and his wife Arlene of Mansfield. She was the dear sister of the late Domenic Angelo, James Angelo, Florence Pelaggi, Mary DeVito, Pauline Cornelia and Eva DiBona. She is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, as well as her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 16th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00 A.M. at the Faith Alliance Church, 883 Pleasant Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow at the Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
