Saintana Charles, age 75, of Mansfield, formerly of Brockton, Randolph and Les Perches, Haiti, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston.
Born in Les Perches, Haiti on March 1, 1948, she was a loving daughter of the late Mildor and Atilia (Joseph) Charles.
Saintana grew up and was educated in Les Perches, Haiti. On August 4, 2008, she moved to the United States, first settling in Randolph. She later moved to Brockton and for the past five years had made her home in Mansfield.
Saintana’s family was truly the greatest love of her life, as well as spending time with church friends. While residing in Randolph, Saintana was an active member of the Union Christian Church of God, where she served as a Deacon of the church and sang in the women’s choir. In Haiti, she was a member of the Baptist Church of Bolosse.
Saintana’s hobbies included crocheting and sewing and she loved watching CNN on the television and filling her home in Mansfield with her beautiful singing voice.
She is survived by her devoted son Ricardo Surpris and his wife Louna of Mansfield and was the mother of the late Roselat Surpris. She was the cherished grandmother of Rayeden Surpris of Mansfield, Shawnan Surpris of Mansfield, Sahabee Surpris of Mansfield. She was the dear sister of Antoinette Charles of Randolph, Jedeon Charles of Haiti, Belnave Charles of Haiti and the late Saint Eloi Charles. She was the treasured aunt of Evens, Peterson, Jefferson, Bettylene, Milda, Samantha, Dashka, Ruth, Cherline, Isemonde and the great aunt of Rhyan and Cynthia. She is also survived by her former husband Joseph Surpris of New York.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 9th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 10:00 A.M. in the Brockton Church of God, 80 Pleasant Street, Brockton. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
