Beverly Ann (Jenkins) McCarthy, aged 91, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Prescott House in North Andover. Born in Boston on February 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Johanna (Thompson) Jenkins. Beverly was raised in Medford, where she graduated from West Medford High School and furthered her education at Chandler School for Women. She was both a model and a legal secretary.
She was the widow of the late William A. McCarthy with whom she enjoyed 68 years of marriage until his passing in 2022. Beverly's journey with her husband began while working at AMF, where they met. They married not long after, and began building their family. Initially residing in Wayland, they later moved to Texas in 1961, followed by a brief stay in Stoneham before establishing their long-term home in Tewksbury, where they lived for over 35 years. In more recent times, she relocated to Salem, NH, before residing at Prescott House until her passing.
Beverly had a profound love for her family and friends. She was very social and cherished time together in quiet conversation or orchestrating fun family gatherings. She was everyone’s Mom - filled with compassion, generosity, and an open heart and mind. Her love and guidance were unconditional and treasured.
Beverly was a true Renaissance woman with many interests of her own including a passion for design and Asian art, theater, cooking, animals, and was a voracious reader. She loved music in all forms as she was a classically trained pianist from the age of 5. Her elegant sense of style was ever present in her fashion, interior decorating, and landscape design. She was a woman well ahead of her time.
Beverly will be greatly missed by all that have had the privilege to know and love her. She would be proud to know that she made a difference in the world with her universal kindness, her unquestionable integrity, and her devotion to those in need.
