Paul Gary DeSanctis passed away on January 24, 2024 in Wakefield, Massachusetts. He was a beloved uncle, brother, and friend.
From an early age, Paul was passionate about all genres of music, but he had a special love for rock. He took drum lessons, and spent many hours banging away, often to his favorite rock songs and drum solos. Although he had a drum set, he did not need it to play drums; he would use anything at hand, including steering wheels and his young nieces’ heads. Paul loved attending live concerts, beginning in the 70s and continuing through recent years. He bragged often that he saw every live local J Geils concert during their touring days. Some notable concerts include Prince at the Boston Garden, the Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Robert Palmer, Elton John, and many, many others. Most concerts he enjoyed with his friends and/or family.
He was a sports enthusiast, both as a viewer and active participant. Paul loved watching professional games on television in recent times, but in younger years he enjoyed downhill skiing, water skiing, and playing any net game at a backyard barbeque. He was extremely competitive, even against his nieces and nephew. He was an accomplished golfer. Paul also cherished time spent hunting with his older cousins in northern Maine, and fishing with them at Baboosic Lake.
Paul’s greatest legacy was the friendships he kept and cultivated. He leaves behind many close and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Hoover and Philomena DeSanctis. Paul is survived by two sisters, Jo-An DeSanctis of Concord, MA and Susan DeSanctis of Lincoln, MA, two nieces, Emily Butters (Forrest Butler) of Brunswick, ME and Elizabeth Butters (Arthur Mallett) of Henniker, NH, and a nephew, Michael Rhodin (Elyse) of Stow, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, February 2nd, 10 AM-12 Noon, followed by a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
