Steve Stavri Sholla, 56, of Worcester died Saturday, January 27th at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 23 years, Daniela (Lara) Sholla; his son whom he loved very much, Elion Sholla of Worcester; a brother, Igli Sholla and his wife, Flora of Worcester; a sister, Greta Grabocka and her husband, Vaske of Albania; and several nieces and nephews including Sara and Mikel.
He was born in Albania, the son of the late Kosta and Rozalia (Papajorgji) Sholla and earned a certificate in Agriculture. With his family, Steve immigrated to the United States in 1996.
Steve attended St. Mary Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church. Steve’s handyman skills were highly valued. He was a renowned for his exceptional gardening skills and his ability to always have a bountiful supply of fresh vegetables. His green thumb and passion for gardening were evident in the vibrant and thriving plants that filled his yard. He had a natural aptitude for fixing things. His ability to quickly analyze problems and find a practical solution made him and asset on every project. Steve formed deep connections with his friends. He was known for his loyalty, reliability, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Steve’s unwavering support and genuine friendship made him a beloved and trusted confidant to those around him.
His love for his Albanian heritage, music, and his proud display of the Albanian flag reflected his deep sense of identity and commitment to preserving and sharing his cultural roots. Through his passion and pride, he left a lasting impact on those around him, fostering a sense of appreciation for Albanian culture and inspiring others to embrace their own heritage.
Steve’s love for his family and friends was immeasurable, and he cherished the special bond he shared with his loved ones. Among them, he held a special place as the best uncle, always going above and beyond.
His funeral is Friday, February 2nd, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street (Please go directly to church). Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street. Calling hours are Thursday, Feb 1st from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
