Maria Milagros Lopez Claudio was born in 1969 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico and died on January 26, 2024, in Boston, MA. Maria grew up on a farm in Puerto Rico with her parents and 10 siblings. This is where she learned the values of family and respect. In her free time, Maria was usually seen dancing and playing with her sisters. She started high school in Puerto Rico but transferred midway through after moving to Boston at 16.
After graduation, Maria began working at Jamaica Plain Neighborhood House. This is where she started her 38-year career in early childhood education. At the time Maria lived with her older sister Doris and had her son Saul in 1988. A few years later Maria and Juan met at Juan's sister’s house. This is where she caught Juan Lopez's eye. It was love at first sight for the two of them. This led to many dates across the city. After he won her heart, she was truly devoted to him. The two were married in 1992 and had their first child, Angelica in 1993, followed by Keylie in 1995. Juan and Maria settled in Jamaica Plain where they raised her son and two daughters.
Maria was a caring and loving person. She did everything for the family and was a role model! She served God above all and always reminded us of his presence and many blessings. She was actively involved in her children’s education and was often seen driving her kids to their extracurricular activities. She was a loving mother and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Maria had everyone’s back and treated everyone with kindness, love, and respect. She was blessed with the ability to cook and often made hearty meals and delicious salads. She also had a love for gardening and reminisced about the days helping her father in the fields of Yabucoa.
She and Juan vacationed often and were blessed with many unique experiences. They were lucky to enjoy beautiful times together, including a 14-day cruise around the Caribbean and Central America, as well as multiple family trips to Florida. During the cold months, you’d find Juan and Maria hibernating. She would keep herself busy being a loving grandmother, a nurturing wife, and a devoted mother. Most will fondly remember Maria for her compassionate friendly nature, caring soul, and beautiful smile.
Maria is survived by her loving husband Juan, her son, two daughters, three grandchildren, three brothers and seven sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all, especially by her husband Juanchi.
Visiting hours at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Wednesday January 31, from 5-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 14 Montebello Rd. Jamaica Plain on Thursday February 1 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

En ese momento, María vivía con su hermana mayor, Doris, y tuvo a su hijo Saúl en 1988. Algunos años después, María y Juan se conocieron en la casa de la hermana de Juan. Fue allí donde capturó la atención de Juan López. Fue amor a primera vista para ambos, lo que llevó a muchas citas por toda la ciudad. Después de ganarse su corazón, María fue verdaderamente devota a él. Se casaron en 1992 y tuvieron a su primera hija, Angélica, en 1993, seguida de Keylie en 1995. Juan y María se establecieron en Jamaica Plain, donde criaron a su hijo y sus dos hijas.
María era una persona cariñosa y amorosa. Lo hacía todo por la familia y era un modelo a seguir. Servía a Dios por encima de todo y siempre nos recordaba su presencia y sus muchas bendiciones. Estaba activamente involucrada en la educación de sus hijos y a menudo se le veía conduciendo a sus hijos a sus actividades extracurriculares. Era una madre amorosa y la mayor animadora de todos. María siempre estaba ahí para todos y trataba a todos con amabilidad, amor y respeto. Tenía el don de cocinar y a menudo preparaba comidas abundantes y deliciosas ensaladas. También tenía un amor por la jardinería y recordaba los días en que ayudaba a su padre en los campos de Yabucoa.
Ella y Juan se tomaron vacaciones con frecuencia y fueron bendecidos con muchas experiencias únicas. Tuvieron la suerte de disfrutar de momentos hermosos juntos, incluyendo un crucero de 14 días por el Caribe y América Central, así como múltiples viajes familiares a Florida. Durante los meses fríos, Juan y María se refugiaban en casa. María se mantenía ocupada siendo una abuela amorosa, una esposa cariñosa y una madre devota. La mayoría recordará con cariño a María por su naturaleza amable y compasiva, su alma cariñosa y su hermosa sonrisa.
María deja atrás a su amado esposo Juan, su hijo, sus dos hijas, tres nietos, tres hermanos y siete hermanas, y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas. Será profundamente extrañada por todos, especialmente por su esposo Juanchi.
Horario de visita en la Funeraria Brady & Fallon 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain el Miércoles 31 de Enero de 5 a 7 p.m. Se celebrará una misa de funeral en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, 14 Montebello Rd. Jamaica Plain el jueves 1 de febrero a las 10 a.m. Familiares y amigos están invitados asistir. Seguirá el entierro en el cementerio de Forest Hills.
