Anna M. Chace, 95, of Smithfield, died Friday, January 26, 2024, at the HopeHealth Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence after a brief illness. She was the widow of Ernest V. Chace. They had been married for 45 years before his death in 1999.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Assunta (Bellino) Salvatore. She had lived in Smithfield for over 60 years.
Anna had worked at the former Tillinghast, Collins, and Tanner Law office, was a homemaker for many years, and then returned to work as a temporary worker at many locations. She enjoyed her temp work as she was able to meet so many new people. She worked for the state at the Division of Taxation in Providence for several years before she retired to take care of her husband.
Anna enjoyed going to the local casinos, playing scrabble, and card games. She was an accomplished pianist who loved playing for others to enjoy. Anna loved being with her family and friends, going out to dinner, talking on the phone, Hallmark movies, and looking up information on "the Google." She was known for her sense of humor and for her generosity.
She is survived by her son Thomas J. Chace and his wife, Beth of Cranston, and by her daughter, Cynthia Fusco and her husband, Dana of North Providence. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Emilia Chace, of which she was very proud. Anna was the sister of the late Rudolf, Giuseppe (Joseph), and Jerome Salvatore, Sylvia Manna and Rosalie Tamburrino. She loved and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Avenue, Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2024, from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of RI or HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.
